Kathryn Ann Bissell, 80, passed away at Flagler Hospital on July 3, 2010.
Kathryn Bissell touched many lives during her time on God"s earth. Kathryn was a native of Spartanburg, S.C., and had resided in St. Johns County for the past 36 years. She was a mother, confidante, friend, counselor, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, Christian and mentor. Karthryn was a Southern Baptist and member of Turning Point at Calvary.
She spent her working career as an accountant, owned her own dress shop on Anastasia Island called "Fancy That," and later worked and retired from Belk"s of St. Augustine. If you ever called Belk"s in those days, it was her voice that greeted you on their new automated system. After her retirement, she enjoyed a good book, being with her friends and traveling with her husband, Robert.
She spent her later years involved with the Florida Sheriffs Association and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Several years ago, she made the trip to Pearl Harbor for the 60th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor with her husband, Robert, a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Kathryn is survived by brothers, Edward and Jimmy Elrod; sisters-in-law, Norma and Ann Elrod; sons, Gary E. Meares, Tommy M. Faucette Jr. and Michael Meares; daughters-in-law, Teresa Meares and Gail Faucette; grandchildren: Kelcey, Madison, Grady, Kayla, Ana Lorie and Tonya Lynn Meares, Christina Crapse and April Conway; great-grandson Dawson Crapse; and several nieces and nephews.
